" The only way to resolve conflict is with dignity. "

Marie-Hélène is originally from Quebec City. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ottawa in 1992 where she completed undergraduate studies in criminology and industrial psychology. She continued there with her legal studies and obtained her LL.B. in 1995.

Marie-Hélène was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1998 and has practiced criminal law and family law as a sole practitioner in Cambridge, Kitchener, Brampton and Toronto, Ontario and is fluently bilingual. She subsequently practiced in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Estate Law, and Criminal Law.

Marie-Hélène relocated her private practice within Family Law Boutique of the Sicotte Guilbault LLP team in January, 2011.

Marie-Hélène is an active member of the Collaborative Family Law Panel. She guides her client through a difficult passage in their life by resorting to non-court oriented alternatives such as Mediation, Collaborative Law and Co-operative Law. Although an experienced litigator, the focus of Marie-Hélène's practice is on achieving a fair and comfortable settlement for her clients without having to live the Court experience. This focus mirrors the goal of the Collaborative Family Law process. Marie-Hélène recognizes the need for her to see you through difficult emotional times, and delicate challenging tasks such as restructing your family in a respectful, dignified and co-operative manner.

Marie-Hélène is a certified Family Law Mediator. Family Mediation is a process that uses a neutral facilitator to organize discussion and settlement of Family Law situations. Mediation focuses on a solution that is in the best interests of the family by adapting to the material needs of the parties. Mediation addresses in priority the children's needs by establishing patterns of co-operative parenting. Mediation encourages co-operation and agreement, is typically less expensive and indicative of the concept of fairness.
